Sajal Lahiri
Sajal Lahiri is a Professor of
Economics at the University of Essex,
where he has been a member of staff
since 1978. He was born in India and
obtained his PhD from the Indian
Statistical Institute. He has published
numerous articles in prestigious
economics journals, including
Econometrica, Economic Journal,
European Economic Review, International Economic Review, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of
International Economics, and Oxford
Economic Papers.

The purpose of this paper is to pull together the emerging theoretical and
empirical literature on the economics of child labour, and to draw out the
underlying commonalities between various contributions in this field. In doing
so, the authors also identify various policy options and their relative merits.
