S. Fred Singer, an atmospheric physicist, is Professor Emeritus of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia. He earlier served as first Director of the US Weather Satellite Service. Other government positions include Deputy Assistant Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency, Chief Scientist of the Department of Transportation, and Vice Chairman of the National Advisory Committee on Oceans and Atmosphere. He has received numerous awards, including the first Science Medal of the British Interplanetary Society. He has published research papers on atmospheric and space science, and monographs on oil economics and energy policy. His most recent book is Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1500 Years (Rowman & Littlefield, 2007).
