Mick Silver is Professor of Business
Statistics and Head of the
Quantitative Methods Group at
Cardiff University. He has recently
returned from a sabbatical as a Senior
Research Fellow at the US Bureau of
Labor Statistics and consultant at the
International Monetary Fund,
Washington DC. He has published
extensively in the academic literature
on issues relating to price level
measurement, including recent papers
in the Economic Journal and the
Journal of Political Economy. He is also
responsible for a text on Business Statistics (McGraw-Hill, 1999). He
works closely with governmental
statistical agencies including the UK
Office for National Statistics and
intergovernmental agencies such as
the IMF, UN, ILO and World Bank in
developing methodologies for better
price statistics.
