Daron Acemoglu is a Professor of
Economics at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology where he has
been since 1993 following the
completion of his Ph.D. at the
London School of Economics. He is a
Research Associate of both the
National Bureau of Economic
Research and the Centre for
Economic Policy Research, and a
Research Affiliate of the Centre for
Economic Performance, London
School of Economics. Dr. Acemoglu is
Editor of the Review of Economics and
Statistics, and a member of the
Editorial Board of the Journal of
Economic Growth and the Quarterly
Journal of Economics. He became a
member of The Canadian Institute
for Advanced Research (CIAR)’s
Economic Growth and Policy
Program in January 2000, and is now
participating in the Institute’s twoyear
initiative on Economic Growth
and Institutions. Dr. Acemoglu’s
interests lie in the areas of income
and wage inequality; human capital
and training; economic growth;
technical change; search theory; and
political economy. His current
research concerns the political
economy of development, political
and economic transitions, and
institutional and technical change.
