Graham Bird is Professor of Economics at the University of Surrey, and Director of the Surrey Centre for International Economic Studies. He is Visiting Professor at The Fletcher School, Tufts University, and at Claremont McKenna College in the United States, and has been a Visiting Scholar in the International Monetary Fund’s (IM F’s) Research Department. He has been an adviser to the Independent Evaluation Office of the IM F and to the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UND P), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNI CEF) and the Commonwealth Secretariat. He is the author, co-author or editor of more than twenty books and monographs and has written more than 150 papers in academic journals. He has been a frequent contributor to World Economics. His most recent book is a co-edited two-volume set of critical writings entitled The IMF and the World Economy (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2007).
