David Pearce is Director of the Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment (CSERGE) at University College London. His main interests are environmental and natural resource economics, with special reference to developing countries and global environmental problems. Professor Pearce is author of Economic Values and the Natural World (Earthscan, 1993), The Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment (Harvester Wheatsheaf, 1989, with R.K. Turner), World Without End: Economics, Environment and Sustainable Development (Oxford University Press, 1993; with J.J. Warford) and editor or author of 40 other books. He received the UN Global 500 Prize 1990.
