Arne Bigsten is Professor of Development Economics at Göteborg University, Sweden. His research has concerned income distribution, poverty and growth, rural and industrial development, trade and aid, and economic policy, particularly in Eastern Africa and recently in China. He has undertaken projects for, among others, the World Bank, United Nations, OECD, ILO, WIDER and Sida.
